InFocus lines up 13 new projectors

By Philip Wong, CNET Asia

While some of its competitors are done rolling out new products for 2007, InFocus has already drawn up an elaborate roadmap for the next six months. In the pipeline are 13 new multimedia and home theater projectors scheduled to replace up to 80 percent of its current lineup. Among these are an ultra-high brightness enterprise beamer, six meeting room-centric models, three ultra-mobiles, two full-HD entertainment light cannons and an all-in-one home cinema kit.

The compact LiteShow II wireless A/V adapter.
Three of the meeting room offerings, the Work Big IN35, IN37 and IN35W, are the first from the American company to feature a new Texas Instrument BrilliantColor technology. What it does is to work around the traditional tradeoff between color and brightness, delivering rich hues without sacrificing light output. From a consumers' perspective, it will mean more vibrant presentations and videos even on high-power lamp mode under less-than-ideal room lighting conditions.

Now that color deficiency is addressed, InFocus has its sights set on advanced video connectivity. To simplify installation and minimize cable clutter, it has introduced LiteShow II, a portable wireless audio-video adapter. Ready to use out-of-the-box, the kit has the necessary management software preloaded into the adapter which can be subsequently downloaded to a computer for hassle-free setup. That’s not all. There are also two analog PC inputs available onboard for easy sharing.

The flagship Play Big IN82.
For the home entertainment segment, there are the Play Big IN1, IN81 and IN82. Though the concept of an all-in-one cinema kit is nothing new, the IN1 is its first foray and an interesting one, too. In addition to the integrated DVD player, it is also equipped with an iPod dock for direct video playback. That said, the limelight still goes to the flagship IN8X-series: The long-belated 1080p home theater projectors with BrilliantColor, film-based 1080p24 input signal compatibility, HDMI 1.3 terminal and high dynamic constrast performance.
