Blu-ray HTIB kit roundup

These Blu-ray home-theater-in-a-box (HTIB) kits have been in the market for quite some time now. Although they're still relatively pricey at more than S$1,500 (US$1,104.38), the latest 2009 entries have finally caught up with the standalone Blu-ray players in terms of feature set. Besides film-based 24p video playback and high-resolution Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD surround sound decoding, you can expect all the models below to offer BD-Live-compatibility. This allows users to access Internet-based downloads and interactive features such as movie blogs and online chat.

The next frontier for these compact home cinemas is A/V receiver-like capabilities, including HDMI input switching and network multimedia streaming. Also, expect these HD-enabled kits to blossom as prices hit mainstream levels in one to two years' time.
