Blu-ray playersIn terms of Blu-ray movie playback, the BD-P1600, BD-P3600 and BD-P4600 are future-proofed with all the latest bells and whistles. Their HDMI 1.3 terminals can output 24-frame 1080p video for optimum film reproduction, as well as studio-quality Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio sound decoded internally or in bitstream (unprocessed) format. Where BD-Live compatibility is concerned, the two higher-end models provide Web-based content downloads out-of-the-box with their 1GB of onboard memory, while the BDP-1600 will require an extra USB storage device. Additionally, all models have responsive 1-second disc tray eject speed.Previously, a single USB port meant that either a draft-N Wi-Fi adapter or thumbdrive could be used, but not both at once. The new kits now have dual USB ports for wireless connectivity, memory expansion and multimedia file access. But note that adapter is optional for BD-P1600. Rounding up other standard features among these players are 1080p DVD upscaling, MP3/JPEG/AVCHD-compatibility, multimedia network streaming and Anynet+ HDMI-CEC. The BD-P3600 and BD-P4600 have added DivX support and sport high-fashion designs. Most notable for the wall-mountable BD-P4600 are its sexy crystal design, angled stand and 42mm-thin profile which earns it the world's slimmest Blu-ray player title. Key specifications at a glance
