The MCP9350i Showline Media Center PC is a purpose-built machine with strong emphasis on CE feel and design. Philips has brought the Microsoft operating system to a whole new level by incorporating its in-house TV tuner wizard and smart music player. The latter does not rely on online databases but analyzes music content real-time to categorize and tag your music compilations.

To overcome the limited video playback capabilities of current-generation graphics chips found on consumer-grade graphics cards, the company has applied its extensive video know-how into the Showline by implementing its proprietary Digital Natural Motion technology. This allows the PC to eliminate motion and frame rate-related issues for smooth, sharp-moving pictures ideal for action movies and sport programs.

Philips' Connected Planet family of wireless products envisioned a world where consumers can connect and access entertainment, information and services of choice independent of time and location. This is in line with the company's analysis of consumer expectations in terms of ease of experience, on-the-fly sharing, and freedom of connectivity, among others.

Its marketing strategy for the company's Streamium wireless multimedia products dates back to 2005 with the pilot launch of its WACS700 wireless audio system. This was quickly followed-up by the latest WACS5 bundle showcased in the event together with other Streamium products such as the SLA5520 wireless music adapter and SLM5500 wireless multimedia adapter.

The WACS5 differs from its 700 counterpart by doing away the speaker and amplifier elements to serve primarily as an upgrade to an existing home entertainment setup. It is capable of supporting up to five independent stations equipped with noise-free digital audio output and comes loaded with whopping storage capacity for up to 1,500 CDs.

Also available on display are two new Voice-Over-Internet Protocol (VOIP) phones based on the proven Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunication (DECT) technology. The Philips VolP321 (on the left) Skype and VolP433 (on the right) Windows Live Messenger cordless phones allow consumers to make inexpensive overseas voice calls over the Internet with millions of other Skype and MSN subscribers worldwide.
