The upcoming 9831D and 9731D LCD TVs represent the pinnacle of the company's connected display stable with all models featuring the latest Pixel Plus 3 HD (PP3HD) image-processing engine plus the innovative Ambilight Surround lighting system. Finding the way into its latest incarnation of the Pixel Plus engine are the Clear LCD and Color Boost picture enhancement technologies.

Clear LCD addresses motion blur issues by implementing three new innovations: Faster liquid crystal; overdrive control; and scanning backlight. Without diving into the technicalities, the combined benefits of these technologies allow LCD TVs to reproduce extreme motion sharpness and flicker-free images.

Color boost, on the other hand, is designed to enhance color reproduction without altering the luminance and skin tone accuracy. This enables the panel to render brilliant and vivid colors matched with natural skin and white tones. Together with other picture enhancements such as the Luminance Transient Improvement and Digital Natural Motion, the latest PP3HD-enabled TVs are able to boost better details, colors and image and motion sharpness.

Another key driver behind these flagship models is the third-generation Ambilight, now upgraded with a three- or four-channel lighting system. Dubbed Ambilight (Full) Surround, the system converts the TV into a floating canvas with an even glow around the screen. This is achieved by real-time analysis of the screen content which, in turn, is used for steering independent sets of power-efficient red, green and blue hot cathode fluorescent lamps (HCFL).

Studies conducted by renowned institutions have indicated numerous benefits of Ambilight which include less fatigue and eyestrain and heighten viewing experience. Its customers have also echoed similar thoughts and provided feedback.
