Spice up your HD experience!
Apr 24, 2008Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Perfect picture & sound quality!
Cons: Not much.
Opinion:
This Samsung BD-P1400 blu-ray player is jam-packed with the newest sound format like Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, 1080p24 video output. Besides HDMI, update of firmware can be done through a ethernet port, but most importantly it's inexpensive & affordable.
Unless you the patience of the buddha, the startup & disc loading time is "hell", also expect some video & sound drop out on a rare occasionally, I hope Samsung will release a patch for this shortcomings soon, otherwise performance of this player is near perfect, it also has a sleek looking glossy facade design that stood out among its rivals.
So start building up your blu-ray library, but don't toss away that old DVD just yet, the BD-P1400 is capable of upscaling DVD video resolution to a near HD quality.
Very good HD output
Jan 22, 2008Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: All latest formats
Cons: Jaggy without software upgrade
Opinion:
I've had US version for two months. Wuality of HD output is excellent. Tended to stop during playback initially; this was resolved by doing software upgrade, which is very convenient using ethernet port. Bought this unit for USD $299 at Fry's in California.
