The bad: Not compatible with BD Profile 1.1; no HDMI 1.3 input; slow to load discs; full of operational glitches.
The bottom line: In many ways, the Sony BDP-S1E is a perfect snapshot of the current state of Blu-ray play. On the one hand, it shows to breathtaking effect just what awesome audio and especially video treats Blu-ray can deliver. On the other hand, there are just too many reminders that Blu-ray is also essentially a work in progress.
