The good: Rock solid stereo and surround reproduction; deep and tight bass; sleek and stylish design; SACD and DVD-audio playback; comprehensive connectivity; wireless upgradeable.

The bad: Above-average video playback; inconvenient USB port placement; pricey.

The bottom line: The Samsung HT-TXQ120 is a rock solid audio system that rivals component-level kits in sound quality. This, however, is not the case for the video department with its above-average visuals.

Consider Panasonic, or if you love your music, Denon

Rating: 2 out of 10 (Terrible)
Pros: Looks good in black
Cons: Ordinary sound in comparison to alternatives; terrible menu options; bulky
Opinion:
Want a 5.1 surround sound HT system? Look for Sony or Panasonic. In sound, durability, and well thought out functions, both are excellent. Sony is a little pricey, so I find Panasonic does the job. If you love your sound and are fastidious with precision, then Denon has an excellent home theatre system that doesn't break the bank like Bose but is in the same quadrant in terms of quality. It looks sleek and the functions are well thought out, right from convenient subtitles buttons on the remote control (for instance) to iPod receivers and such. And Denon, at least in Singapore, will make the DVD player region-free.

dissappointing

Rating: 3 out of 10 (Poor)
Pros: looks good
Cons: extremely limited menu options, no memory functions, doesnt work with anynet.
Opinion:
I have had 2 of these as 1 was a replacement for a faulty one. The new one has a bad vibration on the metal plate on the back of the subwoofer, so this one is also faulty and I will have to go without it for at least a week while they fix it.

The sound quality from this is good and it looks good. These are the only positive things I can say.

I have a samsung lcd tv and the anynet function doesnt pick up this home theatre, however it does pick up a panasonic dvd player. Samsung support is useless and their repair agents didnt even know what anynet is. Samsung telephone support are rude, unhelpful and try everything to get you off the phone as fast as possible. This is one of the reasons I purchased the unit and it looks as though I will never be able to use it.

Expensive kit from Samsung

Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: More to design and good sound quality
Cons: Ridiculous price, volume insufficient for its power
Opinion:
Saw this system and can say very impressed with the looks. It simply the best looking htib to date but the price is simply ridiculous. Costing near $2000 is simply too much for a htib. Sound is nice but have to turn up to about half to reach satisfactory level. Sony and Pioneer do better than that, Turn them 1/5 can get the same amount of power. Perhaps samsung have to think abt this issue... But I still recommend this system if design is more important than anything else like $$.
