The good: Powerful, high-performance system; upscales DVDs to HD; extensive format support; HDMI connectivity; wireless rear speakers.

The bad: Rear speakers drowned out by front channel; plugging cables into the main DVD unit is fiddly; does not support XviD; no USB host function.

The bottom line: The Philips HTS9800W is a stylish wireless 6.1 surround sound system that handles a wide range of disc and file formats as well as most of the latest surround sound formats.
