The bad: Boomy bass; no digital audio input; cumbersome audio setup and adjustment.
The bottom line: The full-featured Pioneer HTZ656DVD complements flat panels well. However, its automated audio calibration can be over-enthusiastic when it comes to bass reproduction.

An excellent sound system but lack digital connectivity
Sep 21, 2007Rating: 7 out of 10 (Very good)
Pros: Good sound quality, nice design with large display
Cons: No optical input
Opinion:
I tested this system before I bought Panasonic SC-PT550. My first impression is the sound and picture quality are better than its rivals in this range. But lack of optical input made me choose Panasonic SC-PT550. If anyone want a simple HTIB but no need to connect digital audio from PS3, HD players or cable box, this system will be excellent choice. Otherwise go for another model like I did.
Another worthy home theatre from Pioneer
May 15, 2007Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Design very stylish, heavy bass, easy surround set up, HDMI, USB
Cons: Not enough auxilary inputs, price and space needed
Opinion:
On the whole, this is the best system I have ever owned since I replaced my aging old Samsung. The sound are clear and crisp especially the sort of "X-Fi from Creative's sound blaster series" which they call it as sound retriever . Bass from the subwoofer is throughly deep, good for techno songs lover like myself. Sounds from movie is also fantastic, very good surround sound. Design wise, very handsome brute with its tall boy speakers. One of the most cool HTIB lately. Of course its has its own drawbacks. Firstly, the price, it puts it out of reach of most buyers. Secondly, u need lots of room to accomodate those massive speakers. Thirdly, not enough of aux inputs and no digital in. Lastly, cannot play DIVx through USB. Overall a fantastic system to consider in terms of performance and asthetics.
Excellent midrange system. Worth buying for a reasonably priced system. Good sound reproduction.

Pros: Sounds fantastic, easy automatic setup, impressive looking set. Attractive design, large bass unit,
Cons: mighty thin wires, tiny square plugs used,
Opinion:
A very reasonably priced midrange set worth the price. Good music and video reproduction, very sharp pictures. Photo slide-show capable. FM radio useful and clean sounding. The microphone auto-speaker calibration and setup very useful and accurate. Calibration can be overrided by your own music preferences if you so desire.
The provided wiring is a tad too thin and insignificant. It can easily be severed if heavy furniture press on it or, a careless trip can break it easily. The insertion plugs are square shaped and tiny. The banana plugs with optional monster cables would be preferred. Also speaker connections are just the crocodile-jaw type press and insert kind for the bare wires. Again banana plugs would be preferred.
Surround sound is pleasant and immersive. Bass reproduction is good although an active bass speaker would be preferred to the passive type provided. The slim tall-boy speaker stands are not ... Read more
