The good: Deals elegantly with streamed media; UPnP support; good-quality internal components; excellent playback quality.

The bad: Fiddly setup for external video; poor USB port placement; intermittent erratic behavior; server software prone to crashes.

The bottom line: When the X5000 works, it's among the very best home media centers we've ever played with. It's not, however, perfect for design and implementation.
