The good: Good print quality; auto printhead alignment; very fast photo prints; duplex printing; fairly quiet; PictBridge compatible; dual paper trays; ability to print CDs and DVDs.
The bad: Scratches on prints; not all photo viewing software are aware of duplex print mode; over-accentuates greens in photos.
The bottom line: The PIXMA iP8500 offers blazing-fast photo outputs at the slight expense of text print speeds.

Excellent
Great but not perfect

I love the box design canon pixma printers and it certainly doesn't required lots of space to store this printer. I love the 2-way paper feeder and its auto duplex printing, which save both time and paper. Printing color photos is pretty swift. The colors are very vivid and outstanding. Thanks to additional green cartridge in the printer, it defines the green color very well. I printed out one color photo and the faded green plants in the background were very visible on the prints rather than the original image itself. But there is a drawback for this. It tends to print out green color a lot although the pictures have little indication of green color. This happened to me when printing pictures with lots of noise.
