The good: Very slim design; plays DVD without booting into OS; remote control; speakers on the side of the unit; ExpressCard slot.
The bad: Keyboard too cramped and set too far forward; no screen latch; no dedicated switches; screen dim for a transflective LCD; optical drive not upgradeable; no S-video port.
The bottom line: The avant-garde design and multimedia features will appeal to the fashion set. However, the uncomfortable keyboard does not perform for extended typing sessions.

Beautiful ultraslim laptop
by Shmee150 - Nov 14, 2005

If you like me have your desktop PC which is for general things, but when you're out and about you want something beautiful to be watching those films on... then look no further. I have been considering a Sony TX1XP against this Samsung X1, but the Samsung being so slim is just impossible to resist. I have owned a Sony T2XP and Toshiba R200, and slim really is what it's all about. Obviously with these specs you're not going to be playing the latest games, or processing any major files, but if what you want is "a traveling computer with style", then literally, look no further!
