The good: Good performance and battery life; lightweight for its size; well-spaced ports.
The bad: No local online support; no volume control.
The bottom line: The Samsung X50 will attract business / fashion-conscious users who want style, screen space and portability.

Followup post
by Andrew - Aug 07, 2005

This is a followup to my previous post. After a few days I ended up taking the X50 back and swapping it for the Acer Ferrari 4005. I'm certainly glad I did. The Ferrari is a much nicer notebook. The keyboard on the X50 has a more solid feel, but other than that the Ferrari is better in all areas. The Ferrari runs a lot cooler than the X50, the touchpad is vastly superior, the high-res screen is great. It did come with one dead pixel, but Acer has agreed to replace the screen. Technically they didn't have to. The slot-loading dvd drive is great. All notebooks should use them. Overall a very well-made and stylish notebook. If you are thinking of buying the X50, do yourself a favor and take a look at the Ferrari first.
