Mickey Mouse goes mobile
Made in Korea, the front cover is wrapped in white or silver leather and has the familiar Mickey Mouse silhouette printed on. The external round display is customizable and allows the default clock to be replaced with images or screensavers. The internal screen is capable of 260,000 colors and doubles as a viewer for the onboard 1.3-megapixel camera. In low-light conditions, the LED flash is automatically activated to capture the image. Custom ringtones, screensavers and graphics designed by Walt Disney International (South East Asia) completes a phone worthy of the Disney trademark. The 20MB memory and PC synchronization feature will also appeal to IT-savvy users who want to further personalize their handset. Priced at S$548 (US$403.47), we feel that this is rather pricey considering it lacks wireless connectivity and 3G capability. For those who, for some reason, dislike a rodent-themed device but still want a phone that says "I have not really grown up yet", Dmobo has a Whinny the Pooh handset in the works. The company plans to create an entire line based on popular cartoon characters. To show its commitment to the local market, Dmobo already has a service center located at Singapore Genting Lane to provide local customer service. To commemorate the launch in the Republic on November 18, the special-edition Dmobo M900 Disney Ruby will be made available but limited to only 2,000 pieces. Packaged in a Disney gift box with a numbered certificate, it carries a S$598 (US$440.28) tag with a two-year SingTel mobile plan. Both models will be available exclusively at SingTel authorized vendors tomorrow. Dmobo plans to launch this model in other Asia Pacific countries in the coming months. Dmobo M900 disney edition
