The good: Strong multimedia features; smooth video captures; onboard high-resolution digital camera; loud speaker; sharp LCD display; memory expansion slot.
The bad: Bulky design; unintuitive user interface; voice recordings slightly muffled; poor keypad design.
The bottom line: The DV1 makes a handy traveling companion, particularly for those into image/video recording and music playback. However, everyday mobile phone users may find it hard to compromise on the extra bulk and not-so-intuitive user interface.

How much you like the DV1 also depends on your expectations. My past mobiles have been: Samsung x600a, Motorola e365, and least recently, Nokia 8210. So I haven't used the best models around and have used some of the worst. Good things:
* Excellent holiday companion. I just came back after a week in HK. Great for taking pics in the day. Can replace digital camera in the day, too. Still pics and video are great.
* MP3 player not bad but can't do other things while listening, e.g. type SMSes, take pics, etc.
* Not as heavy as its 118g stats would suggest.
* Number typing pad not bad. Anyone who thinks it is small should see any number of other models available. The pointer keypad is a litte tight for me, though.
* Always gets ppl's attention!
"THREE megapixels???? You mean POINT three right?"
* SMS uses the ancient Motorola system used in the e365 but the processor is quick so it isn't as painful as it could be (believe me, I know from painful experience)
* Triband
* Customizable wallpaper and ringtones
* Excellent alarm, keeps ringing every 10 minutes till you wake up!
* Lots of goodies--second battery, separate charger, very nice leather pouch, headphones, CD with image program, user guide, tv-out cable, USB cable (don't have to buy separately like dumb Samsung)
The bad:
* Build quality is fair only. My screen sounds like it has something loose and the thin hinge holding the screen to main body feels subjectively fragile
* Volume for phone calls and mp3 player are not loud enough at maximum
* Can't change the name of the pic and always resets to "cute001" making it a hassle when downloading new loads into a directory on computer
* Night camera and video not as good. Needs to be VERY still and flash needs to be forced, which means you can't expect another person to take a good pic for you.
