Sony Ericsson debuts first WM6 PDA-phone

By John Chan

BARCELONA, SPAIN--There had been rumors about Sony Ericsson joining the Microsoft Windows Mobile camp and the company confirmed it with the launch of the XPERIA X1.

The first device in its premium XPERIA sub-brand, the X1 is a touchscreen device with a slide-out QWERTY keypad, not unlike devices like the Toshiba Portege G900 and HTC TyTN II. The difference is it's slim at just 16.7mm thick and weighs 145g--pretty compact compared to the 19mm thickness and 190g weight of the TyTN II. It will come with a host of features including HSDPA/HSUPA for high-speed data transfers and GPS for navigation.

it's a dream come true for me! *finally tosses the defunct clie into the bin* The perfect marriage (or 3some, if you must!)

Can't wait for it to be available! and 2 more quarters to go too, even being optimistic that it's July, it's a long wait! Just hope we don't have to wait too long.. like the SE Z1010, waited 1.5 years and didn't get it in the end - why would I? it's no longer top-of-the-line!

Oh Sony Ericsson and Mr Hideki "Dick" Komiyama-sama, don't tease us all!
