Great Email and Messanging Device
Oct 9, 2008Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Very User Friendly GUI, Good Keypad, Nice Screen, Sleek Design, Good GPS and Navigation
Cons: Camera and Internet Browser could be better, No Wifi, No 3G
Opinion:
Just bought the 8310 Crimson Red two weeks ago. And I love this mobile phone.
With many (Indonesian) operators providing Blackberry for individuals (BIS), many people have been attracted to use the BB service and handset.
The most updated OS version (v.4.5.0.55.81) allows the recording video capability, HTML viewing for emails, and integrated Docs To Go (Word and Power Point). You will also get Excel (sheet to go) once registered to Dataviz.
Loved the Integrated GPS and Maps. In my experience it locks faster and more stable than my Nokia N95 8Gb built-in GPS. THe NOkia has better/nice looking map though.
BB could certainly have better Internet Browser than what they're offering here but you can always install Opera Mini for better looking and functional browser.
A fair performer in domain of smartphones
Aug 8, 2008Rating: 6 out of 10 (Good)
Pros: good email capablities;nice display;good keyboard which can be used by someone with thick fingers
Cons: no wi-fi;poor camera results'no video recording!!!!!!!
Opinion:
If you are looking for all-in-one smart phone ,this is not the one. It has no wi-fi (so all internet activity gets billed), and the browser is not that too quick either.
the camera is really pathetic (gives a yellowish tinge to all captured images). to top it up, it does not have video recording.
The speakers are fair only.
Has got good QWERTY key board, and the keys are widely spaced ( I have fairly big fingers and that was never an impediment in typing emails off with mach speed).
User-friendly
May 30, 2008Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Ease of use, light-weight
Cons: Camera quality is poor
Opinion:
So easy to use, I didn't even need to read the user manual. The BlackBerry Messenger is a cool function. Two of my friends ended up buying the 8310 after they saw how user-friendly it was.
Need some tweak, but tasty nonetheless
May 26, 2008Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Form factor, keypad, easy to use, addressbook search
Cons: lack WiFi, lack HSDPA, lack document editor, camera could be better
Opinion:
been using 9300i for quite sometimes, but its size is too annoying.
Considering iPhone, E51, and E61i but none could satisfy my needs.
BB Curve has the perfect form factor that it slips into pocket easily, and yet still comfortable to type.
I think it suits my needs well as I do messaging alot, but less likely to browse internet from the phone.
But then, wifi, HSDPA, and docs editor would be nice to have.
Battery life needs improvement, too (only last 2days, though YMMV)
A device I would likely keep for a long long time.
Amazing product!
Apr 19, 2008Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: It's got all the functionality I need in a small, lightweight form factor.
Cons: I'd really like for it to have video capability.
Opinion:
I had a Treo 650 forever but got fed up with the bugs and tired of losing the little pens. When I realized I'd never see the features I wanted from Palm, I tried the AT&T Tilt -- unbelievably buggy, horrible human interface...when will Microsoft ever learn that ease of use and robustness must outweigh the goal of maintaining its monopoly? Jeez. I abhorred the thought of switching to Outlook from the Palm Desktop, which was a prerequisite for using a Blackberry, but finally settled on a combination of Thunderbird for email and Outlook for everything else. It's not too bad of a combination. Anyway, the Blackberry Curve 8310 far exceeded my expectations -- the ease of use is excellent, the keyboard is great (except for a few oddly placed keys), and its form factor is amazing...especially the weight. It's also very inexpensive compared to its competition. Way to go BlackBerry!!! Now, ... Read more
