CNET Asia Review

Very good

7.2

View score

The good: HSDPA (up to 7.2MBps); GPS with bundled maps; 128MB RAM; good performance.

The bad: Smart Wheel not all that smart; non-camera version not available everywhere; poor microSD slot position; lack of HP-specific UI and applications.

The bottom line: You can't fault this iPaq for its extensive breadth of features, but it has some flaws which prevent it from being among the best in its class of Windows Mobile products.

Good design and built but thumbs down when it comes to functionality

Rating: 4 out of 10 (Mediocre)
Pros: Extremely bad in audio levels! Menu is not user-friendly and software support is not readily available in hp.com
Cons: Sleek design
Opinion:
I just bought this system for about a week... so my review may be tainted with my frustration. However, one of the biggest complaint I have is the audio levels of this PDA phone. I have to strain my ears to catch the audio feedback when I am using the voice commands. And the audio levels are so undesirable even after I have pushed all the audio output to a max.

I wish there is some kind of help out there from HP to fix this BIG BIG problem.

I would expect a high quality system from HP to overcome such fundamental issues like sound levels. Any help from users of HP iPAQ 612c???!!!!

Nothing's perfect, but this phone I like best so far from all my PDA Phone collections

Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: It has what WM phone provides. Definitely the 128MB Ram, in-build qualcomm 6280 (GPS) is a plus
Cons: Can't silence an incoming call as opposed to any PDA Phone, where the up-down for volume hardware buttons could do the trick.
Opinion:
With the price pretty reasonable and the features rich, it's recommendable to own.

Not sure why the 3G video function isn't included?

The finish of the housing was good, somehow like the Nokia E90, not exactly but quite close to its motive. Nice!

Excellent Phone

Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: The necessary connectivity available with swift breeze through its functions
Cons: Customer Service
Opinion:
Purchased this phone less than a month ago and was relatively happy using it with all the functions present. The only set back i encountered was that the screen cracked while i was carrying something on my lap. Sent it to hp singapore and acknowledge that the screen was cracked due to my own negligence and would be willing to pay for the replacement. The engineers got back to me the next working day to provide me with a quote for the repair. To my surprise, the reply i got was that they are unable to replace the screen and adviced me to purchase an entire new set. This puzzles me as it is the first time i ever encounter a situation whereby a screen could not be replace and the only option was to purchase an entire new set. If the set was faulty due to my own negligence and was beyond repair, i would gladly purchase a new ... Read more
