CNET Asia Review
8.4
out of 10View score
The bad: Still no bundled GPS maps; fingerprint magnet; no audio jack.
The bottom line: It's still a great compact PDA-phone with a ton of features, but regrettably, this HTC doesn't address some of the shortcomings of its predecessor, the Dopod D810.

best i had
Sep 24, 2007Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Pretty fast and very low power consumption.
Cons: No Audio jack, phone not loud enough, easy to get dirty.
Opinion:
I change PDA once every 2 to 3 months... it's the best so far i had. very low power consumption. GPS work perfect. 3G perfect. UMTS or Data very fast and smooth. Wireless good. style good. have lots of memory. i got a spare battery for incase... but still not used... have used in Hong Kong and Malaysia... work perfect... need to hard reset and remove the pre-install software, for no use... above all... the best PDA and PDA phone i had used since i used used Win CE 2 back in 1998.
After Sales Support Should Be Considered in CNet Reviews
Sep 21, 2007Rating: 1 out of 10 (Abysmal)
Pros: Packed with functions. Contains most of the features you need (and want) from a business device.
Cons: Requires resetting once/twice a day, evasive after sales support from HTC
Opinion:
The device promises a lot and attempts to deliver - but only in the sense that it is a small device fully packed with features. There are several weaknesses. The hardware seems to frequently have problems. Device software (in particular alternative soft keyboards) are not easy to install and frequently can't be used, but application software does not raise any problems in installation. But the ultimate slap in the face is the shoddy and elusive after sales support from HTC. For a S$1K+ device, you wouldn't want to have it sitting in their service centre for weeks. But you have to get used to it, without any replacement devices provided. The device is great, but NOT one that you can rely on to become part of your life. Whether that is worth $1K+ is really questionable. Cnet - it's time you included after sales support in your evaluations!
Has some issues compared to my old D810
Sep 14, 2007Rating: 6 out of 10 (Good)
Pros: More memory and less lagg compared to the D810
Cons: Speaker Volume seems to be weaker then the D810 for bothe earphone and Speaker phone
Opinion:
Here are the bad things about this new device. I just bought it a few days ago and am now in Dubai. First of all the network configuration wizard will not work or configure this device in Dubai. I called up HTC and they said that since I bougt it in Hong-Kong I had to ask Hong-Kong why. Hong-Kong was unable to help as usual not knowing what the problem was. One problem is that in the wizard the UAE or Etisalat no longer appears in the network configuration Wizard. I had the D810 and it worked perfectly and was able to configure the settings on its own but this new ones refuses to configure. Part II I synchronized some songs with my memory card and only half of them will play on my pda. It claims the file is corrupt. I took the memory card and plugged into a memory card reader and played it back on my laptop ... Read more
