Have this for almost a year; It is very good device to get email on the road.
Aug 17, 2007Rating: 7 out of 10 (Very good)
Pros: Push email; and 3G (for Korea and Japan)
Cons: Sound quality and no expansion memory
Opinion:
This is an excellent machine to get emails if you travel a lot. And although the network is spotty in Korea, you are still able to get data and voice service; and adequate in Japan.
Main discontent is the voice quality of the speaker. Need to use a head phone (bluetooth preferably). Also, once in a while (once every 2 months), the phone OS will reset. I think this happens due to a network issue, as it only happens on the road.
An efficient little device
Nov 15, 2006Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Phone, email and 3G in a safe way together
Cons: Scrollwheel click not sensitive enough, sound quality, plastic holder scratches
Opinion:
I just got my new Blackberry and must say it does the trick if you're looking for a no frills machine that still has all the requirements for a busy executive. Too bad that there is no cover and the plastic "holder" that comes with the device is too hard and covers the lower buttons so it's not possible to mail or sms while keeping it in the holder. The result will be scratches on the side of the machine because every time you have to get it out of the holder. The scrollbutton click is a bit too strong, making it hard to click without moving the wheel itself. The system works very intuitive and is a breeze to use once you know how.
A great product given 3G/GSM compatibility, though not tested yet.
Sep 17, 2006Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: 3G/GSM Compatibility (should work in South Korea, Japan), tethered modem
Cons: no camera and big size (not a major handicap though)
Opinion:
I recently moved to South Korea from Singapore and have been struggling to get used to the lack of mobility/roaming. Blackberry service was recently launched but with no real mobility (international roaming) given the network difference. I am told that 8707G has 3G/GSM compatibility and you will continue to receive email seamlessly in different networks. Therefore intend taking the service out of Singapore and use in Korea as roaming. Korean service provider is not offering on 3G and has not plans yet. I would have preferred the size to be 7100 or Pearl.
