MicroSD card slot has to be accessed by removing battery cover - trueHowever, do people realise that the omnia's closest competitors - the htc diamond and iphone DO NOT EVEN HAVE a microSD slot???
I use an 8GB microsd card with my set, and until the 16gb cards come out, i'm not going to remove this. changing the card once in a while is hardly a major inconvenience
have been using this for slightly over a week. Love the interface, especially since its got 2 different types of home screens and i can even customise some of the short cuts in the menu
5mp camera is ok, nothing fantastic, but if i want to take pictures on holidays etc, i'll still be using either my dslr or 10megapixel compact anyway
bought this with contract for $468, but even without contract it is $1098!! htc diamond with only 4gb costs the same price!!! so what if it has vga screen? sure, the vga screen looks very pretty, but what use do i have for it?? and the much vaunted iphone 3g is US$699 (more than S$1500) without contract!!!!!!!
how about the stylus? again, i've been using this for over a week. i haven't found a need for the stylus. i turned on the mouse thingy and i type sms using the phonepad input option. i don't even bother bringing the stylus out with me
so IMHO, all things considered, this is the best of the lot so far. 3.5G, WiFi, GPS, touch screen, Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro, 16GB storage, 2 home screen options, customisable short cuts, easy text input, easy navigation with mouse, divx support for my movies when i'm travelling. my omnia is going to be with me for quite some time to come
Spontaneous shutdown
Aug 6, 2008 10:55 PM
It is for me a daily occurrence now...as John Chan points out the phone shutsdown for no apparent reason. at least 3 times aday, usually after "hibernation" in periods of no usage... Done 2 resets and getting frustrated.. Using it in the US HSDPA is no good since the phone operates in 2100 and largest carrier att is in the 850-1900...Otherwise everything else is ok, but above weigh alot... I hope Samsung comes out with a"fix" for this... Anyone else having same issue?
Users praising Omnia PLEASE do that after using it for at least a month!

Too many people starts praising the phone after purchasing it ( I did the same mistake myself) . I advised 4 friends to buy it and they did .. Now everyone starts blaming me and will soon follow suit to sell it off in the 2nd hand market. To me, this is a phone that has giving me CONSTANT shutdown and problem makng and receiving calls since purchse! The explnation from Samsung is that there are many other people experiencing the same problem and it is not possble to do a one-to-one exchange. THey have not found a solution for such a serious problem and expects me to continue waiting. Felt so cheated over my money and warranty period.Jump to page: [1] 2
