iPhone Killer

I'm a 2.5G iPhone user. From what i see, this HTC Touch Diamond will be the closest device that can rival a 3G iPhone. Many improvements in the Windows Mobile 6.1 interface and it gonna be available in June for Asia. Although the 3G iPhone will be launching in june and probably available in Singapore by september, HTC has an edge by bringing it to market early before Apple does. Samsung and LG's recent touch screen devices had not been close in getting the iPhone experience. Sony Ericsson Xperia X1's panel interface looks like in the infancy. Although SE X1 is hardware manufacture by HTC. Looks like the final two touch screen devices for 2008 will be Apple 3G iPhone or the HTC Touch Diamond. You only need to choose OSX or Windows Mobile 6.1. Personally, i will purchase both devices. By then, I will post my thoughts.Impressive

Very impressive, i was wowed by the fancy videos on HTC websites, but imagine a PDA phone trying to animate so many things.Just like what Windows did to Vista, to "introduce" a seriously "souped up" GUI, which crippled the entire OS, making it slow and "introducing" fancy images of your tiny window or what's in your folder.
They don't work, they are fancy but they don't work. They use up too much, way too much resources, imagine a 2ghz dual core, 4gb computer failing Aero, i'm sure all this enhancements will slow down the userbility of the really nice phone.
They set out to challenge Apple's iPhone by trying to emulate and deliver a richer GUI but hey.. what Apple has done right over the last 8 years that windows didn't is to understand the word USER and SIMPLE.
Apple delivered a GUI that is classy yet functional. Windows is still years behind.
It got me excited for a while until i tried to picture myself scrolling through 500 contacts and having to wait for my phone to load 500 pictures. But to fully use that, i have to spend 2 weekends trying to get everyone's photos into the phone and with no expandable slot... that is serious resources wasted.
I wonder if HTC will release a footnote that warns people that only a premium version of this phone will have it's new flashy GUI and allow user to "switch" to classic view. :P
