We all know we should treat mummy dearest nicely the whole year round, but on Mother's Day it's a special occasion when she is quite literally queen of the house. Sure, a nice meal out and a bouquet of flowers will set her heart aflutter, but these moments will be made more special if it's captured and reviewed long after the flowers have withered and the food digested. We thought of our moms and came up with this list of cameras that the lady who gave you life will be proud to show off.

The Active Mom

If your mom likes the great outdoors, the Olympus Mju 1030SW will be a great companion when she goes trekking or diving. It is waterproof up to a depth of 10m and endures shocks from a fall of 2m. The shooter can also withstand chilling temperatures of up to minus 10 degrees Celsius. How else do you think she got that stunning shot of the sunrise on the mountain? Don't get her mad or she can knock your head with it and take a shot of you in pain.

The Homemaker

She does the laundry and heats up dinner when you get home near midnight. Once in a while she attends community events and snaps shots of her friends. A wide-angle lens would be great if she wants to get everyone in the frame. Samsung's NV24HD and Panasonic's Lumix DMC-FX36 come with a 24mm and 25mm lens, respectively. The two cameras also offer face detection so everyone in the shot will be in focus. These two features will come in handy when your mom becomes the community photographer.

The Working Professional

You seldom see her at home, and even if she is, it's at her desk typing away on the computer. She needs something fast and minimalist but performs well. If that's the case, Nikon's S600 should fit the bill. The point-and-shoot comes with a 28mm wide-angle lens and a scroll dial for quick navigation between menus. Looking sleek and professional, the S600 will blend in perfectly with the laptop and other gadgets in her bag.

The Stylish Entertainer

She took 3 hours to dress up for your cousin's wedding and looked better than the bride at the dinner. To complement her immaculate fashion sense, we suggest Sony's Cyber-shot DSC-T300 or Canon's Digital IXUS 80 IS. Both shooters are compact and will fit into any small clutch without leaving a bulge. They look stylish, too, and you can be quite sure your fashionista mom will love snapping shots with it on her shopping trip.

The Tech-Savvy Woman

If your mom can set up the HDTV without looking at the manual, pamper her with a camera that can take HD-quality videos as well. On the market now, Panasonic has two cameras-the Lumix DMC-FX36 and TZ15--that can capture 720p video. Samsung's NV24HD is also capable of this. We won't be surprised to see her at the Cannes Film Festival next year.
