Trade my DSC H7 for this Lumix
Sep 15, 2009Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Easy to use function, especially the IA mode. Vibrant and sharp images. Works very well in low light conditions. No regrets for swapping to this Lumix.
Cons: The zoom dials could have been more firm. Worry it might get loose after intensive usage.
Opinion:
Had no regret trading my Sony DSC H7 for this baby. Compact, stylish and powerful. For amateurs like me, the HD video recording feature included in this LUMIX is just as great. Bottomline is NO REGRETS...
great superzoom compact
Sep 15, 2009Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: superzoom function, wide angle capability, great night shots, fantastic macro
Cons: shutter lag and SLOW start up, colours a bit washed out, short battery life
Opinion:
Colours reproduction not as vibrant as compared to Ixus 960is. Even after using the vivid colours function. However, the sharp image quality makes up for it.
This camera takes fantastic images at macro settings - simply wonderful! The superzoom capacity is also a big plus point.
Night shots are not blurry anymore, even though taken with freehand sans tripod.
Battery life could be better though as it seems to run out in less than two days (if use camera frequently). That is in normal room temperature. I think it will die faster in colder temperature. What makes it worse is that Panasonic does not supply extra batteries nor make it available for purchasing. There are also no news on when the batteries will be available for purchase.
THIS IS THE POINT AND SHOOT FOR THIS YEAR
May 24, 2009Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Almost Everything
Cons: No built in LED no manual exposure control
Opinion:
This is the point and shoot to get if you want the highest zoom, great io features, in BOTH still and moving pictures! Wide angle lens and video compression that will allow you to record video until the memory is full!! It will change settings to allow for the best video, changing for low light, indoors, outdoors . .manually or automatically!! A true HD camcorder and digicam in one. I thought the Samsung hz15w / wb550 was going to be the one for me this year, but they have restricted recording times. This Panasonic rules.
very simple to use

Pros: good image quality, 12x zoom ,wide angle , small size
Cons: loose menu dial , wrongly located
Opinion:
Perfect for the casual photographer.
IA mode nearly perfect. Can take pixs of any occassion with this mode alone , Can forget about the other modes ! Can even replace my nikon d40x SLR !
Slightly on the expensive side.
