Great Entry Level Camera
Mar 16, 2009Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Everything about it is good
Cons: None
Opinion:
I owned this cam over slightly over a year now and I must say that this camera is one great entry level camera to shoot with. True the kit lens isn't impressive but when one buy a dslr, they buy it with full knowledge that they will have to source for other lenses to acheive better pics.
For those who complain that canon's lens are too expensive, I'd challenge them to go find cheaper lenses with Nikon or Sony. Canon's lenses are amongst the cheapest in the market. If you can't afford the lens, don't buy a dslr.
Weight wise, I'd say yes this camera is a lil' lighter but that to me is a pro instead of a cons. With the L lenses which can pack quite a weight, who needs a body that add to the weight hanging around your neck when you go out on a photowalk???

Too Small
Dec 20, 2008Rating: 1 out of 10 (Abysmal)
Pros: null
Cons: too small
Opinion:
this camera is too small and too light for a dslr. i felt uncomfortable holding this camera. The Canon IS lenses are extremely expensive.
you guys got to be kidding. this is the best picture quality this side of the 5D

Pros: Handling, speed, price, quality, 12mp, 14bit, live view, screen
Cons: no dial on back, kit lens has rotating focus front end
Opinion:
ok, so I'm a 40D shooter and former 400D shooter.
I received my new 450D yesterday, with kit lens (18-55mm IS).
I have the razor bleed sharp 17-55mm f2.8, but decided to test the 450D initially with the kit lens as it had got such good reviews.
The question is, is the kit lens good enough as a light travel lens ? Its 190g vs the 17-55mm f2.8 645g.
First impressions are very positive. The small changes to the grip make this comfortable to hold. The camera has also undergone a weight reduction, now comfortably the lightest DSLR apart from then E410. Undercutting a key rival, the D60.
The job that Canon have done with the buttons and handling is quite simply awesome. The new ISO button, combined with the exposure hold and focus selection button are in just the right places. The menu system, using the four direction keys, is easy to access. Its ... Read more
Affordable DSLR with no frills but with spot meter this time.
Jan 29, 2008Rating: 7 out of 10 (Very good)
Pros: Many long for a spot meter & Canon has done that this time.
Cons: Sadly the ISO range is from 100 to 800, somewhat limited.
Opinion:
It is a no frills camera and the 400D is fast handling too.
With this new model, would be photographers on a tight budget would opt for it and spend more on Canon L lenses
for quality photos.
