Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Light, cheap, excellent image quality
Cons: Bad auto focus on lateral point
Opinion:
In my opinion a great camera.
Small and light, you can bring it almost everywhere without any difficulty.
Image quality is great
It is not sophisticated like its elder brothers, but it will be an advantage, because it will stimulate your wit in order to reach very good shots.
It has some small drawbacks, but it is a very good choice for the money and not only for beginners.

Fantastic for transition from Point and shoot to DSLR

Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Handy, Less weight, ease of use
Cons: 6 MP
Opinion:
I am experimenting with the DSLR world for about a month only and I did not even thought that such a nice pics come out of me
The DVDs on photography & Nikon D40 that came with the camera was very much useful

Really a fantastic one

Perfect DSLR

Rating: 10 out of 10 (Perfect)
Pros: Small, quiet, value for money
Cons: 6 MP, Only built-in autofocus motor lenses
Opinion:
This is a perfect camera for me as I was using my dad's P5000 and when i got this camera at COMEX they also gave the 55-200mm lenses free and that already covered all my needs. Great transition camera for an enthusiast using digital cameras to SLR! :)

Spectacular performance and great for first-timers on dSLRs

Rating: 10 out of 10 (Perfect)
Pros: Very smooth handling, takes exceptionally good photos and is good at anytime you want
Cons: only 6 megapixels
Opinion:
great, really great. i used it at the Navy Open House 2007. on the rocking boat, i could snap a perfectly clear, still and close picture of a patrol boat at an estimated 20 knots. the focus is brilliant and is great for starters. price is more affordable than most dSLRs. good starting camera for all professional beginners. Nikon still puts on the best show at the end of the day.
