Topnotch Image Quality, Reliability Under Almost Every Condition
Jul 5, 2008Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Image is crisp and clean almost all the time, fast operation, not too bulky
Cons: Doesnt have live view that most people prefer to use when taking photos...
Opinion:
I don't know what made CNET Asia give this camera a lower than 8 rating, maybe it's because they really don't have a true-blue photographer who can critique DSLR performance the way websites like dpreview.com does it. This camera is very highly recommended in nearly every credible camera review website. And it's because of quick performance, enhanced usability, idiot-proof menu, crisp and clear image quality and available of accessories after-market.
The kit lens is standard but does take decent photos. It can perform pretty good macro shots as well as very good zoom capability, especially for landscapes and scenery. Like every DSLR, it takes some getting used to, but after about a month of using it, I now understand why Canon is the market-leader. Yes, Nikon does have better offerings on various segments, but at entry-level, this Digital Rebel XTi or 400D will be hard to beat.

Very good entry level dSLR for beginners
Feb 13, 2008Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Relatively good color reproduction and low noise at high ISO
Cons: Built-in flash works well only within 2 meter range
Opinion:
Trade in the standard lense kit for a better one
Very Good First SLR
Feb 7, 2008Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Auto Sensor Cleaning, Fast, Sharp Pictures, Excellent image quality
Cons: No Live View ,No Spot Metering
Opinion:
This is my first SLR Camera. Its a very good started SLR, Image quality is excellent. Start up time is very less and camera is very fast.
Things that is missing in this camera is Live view and Spot Metering.
Very Good Features.
Very easy to use.
Bundled software is great, very fast and easy to use.
I use 18-55mm IS lens. Go for IS lens.IS lens is too good. Standard lens kit is not good.
Camera is Cheaper(Cost wise).
Very Good Battery life.
Good Camera
Jan 20, 2008Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Take pictures real fast, sharp and in natural tone.
Cons: Backlit exposure is indeed a disappointment. Pictures tend to be a bit dark so need to add flash.
Opinion:
When I first got my first SLR camera I was elated. It was a 10/10 on my first month. Then 9/10 after a few months and now after about a year, i'll give it a 8/10.
The pictures are sharp, and it's very easy. I've also upgraded to a better lens to get f2.8 aperture.
All in all, I think it's a great camera.
