Probably the best entry level DSLR in the market!
Jan 23, 2007Rating: 10 out of 10 (Perfect)
Pros: Spot Metering, Kelvin White Balance, Dual Lens, Four-Thirds System, SSWF, Light Weight
Cons: Still trying to figure out
Opinion:
Bought a Canon EOS 400D and switch to Olypmus E-500 within 3 weeks; no turning back ever since! This entry level DSLR gives you so much features and control that as a newbie photographer you can learn so much more compared to other DSLRs in the market. You can't find features such as spot metering in the majority of other brands and models without having to spend well over SGD 2,000.
One of the great DSLR camera in the market!

Pros: Quality image, good lens & external flash at competitive price, Ergonomic design
Cons: High noise at ISO400, small viewfinder
Opinion:
Olympus E-500 simply an amazing DSLR camera with a lot of quality features, the “box” body & ergonomic grip design create comfortable and easy to operate button layout. With SSWF dust reduction system we have less worry about dust problem on the image. Histogram display assist photographer on shooting information, and dual –slot storage with CF & xD cards make the camera more user friendly. Olympus Zuiko Digital lens and accessories market at a very competitive prices compare to some other brand, the camera package also comes with 14-45mm & 40-150mm. I’m really impressed by the Olympus technologies, and I’m enjoy every photo shoots with this camera, cheers Olympus!
Excellent cam for novices and experts alike!

Pros: Image quality, full-info LCD, SSWF, price
Cons: No vertical grip, no IS
Opinion:
The E-500 produces sharp, well-exposed and colourful images straight out of the camera without the need for post-processing. The excellent 2.5" high-res LCD displays all shooting data. The SSWF CCD cleaning function actually works! The E-500 has tons of pro features at an incredibly good value for money. The kit lenses 14-45mm and 40-150mm are excellent performers too! The provision of a vertical grip and an in-camera image stablization would have made this camera even better.
well balanced DSLR

Very pleased with the camera. Have only charged the battery once and yet I have been taking pictures all week. Impressed with the lcd; bright and loaded with information. Love the 14 mag for viewing images. Makes checking out focus and depth of field a snap. Very pleased with images.
