excellent lens, great value
Apr 2, 2006Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: 32mm - 420mm lens, intuitive menu interface, good grip
Cons: noisy pictures at high shutter speed, mediocre software package for a high-end prosumer
Opinion:
the FZ30 is a better buy over a basic DSLR if you do not intend to invest in lenses. the leica lens will meet almost all your needs with its super zoom capability and good mechanical zoom rings. its a well balanced camera and has a good grip. great value for money.
Great all rounder super-zoom digital camera
Dec 18, 2005Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Image stabilisation, creative zoom up to 19.1X at 3MP, full manual controls
Cons: Noise reduction algorithm (especially at ISO 400) not fantastic though usable for small print sizes
Opinion:
A super-zoom camera has always been my dream and among all those available in the market, the 8MP Panasonic DMC-FZ30 here gives the best balance in price, quality and features. This is a fantastic all round digital camera and perhaps the best choice next to the much more expensive DSLRs...
Affordable prosumer cam with excellent features
Dec 9, 2005Rating: 10 out of 10 (Perfect)
Pros: Excellent stabilizer, extended optical zoom, clear photos, manual zoom+focus, user-friendly
Cons: Noise reduction moderate
Opinion:
So far the best camera i have used, provides excellent shots. Extended optical zoom of 19x really wonderful. Gives more manual feel with zoom and focus rings with precise controls. Though cannot be compared to those high-end dSLRs, this cam sure provides high quality and features that do not cost that much, too.
Panasonic did that
Dec 2, 2005Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Camera for all people
Cons: Good
Opinion:
This is my best digital camera with full manual zooming and a lot of jobs to do (options). It did very good outside photos and also clear flash photos.
It is not the max but paying only about $700 you will have a very good SLR-like effect with big zoom and image stabilizer and 8 megapixels. Try to pay that with SLR camera with special lens. You need not less than $5,000. So a good deal with a lot of perspective, Panasonic offers a good model for advanced amateurs and serious photographers who need to work hard to get the best photos.
An amateur-surfing photographer's dream camera

Sitting on the rocks, hanging off the railing on a pier, knee deep in rolling whitewater, running up the sand to the next peak. This megazoom Pansonic is incredible. The high-speed autofocus, shutter priority mode and an image stabilizer in a compact package allow me to take high-quality shots in spots where the guys with the coffee can lens were never allowed. My hat is off to Panasonic for creating my dream camera.
