I highly recommend this camera for those with picture quality concerns. Colors are vibrant and pictures are crystal clear. I had no problem with lens cap as mentioned in other digicam review websites.
No-nonsense megazoom S2 IS from Canon

Opinion:
Being a brand leader, Canon always delivers quality and reliability and the S2 IS is no exception. Where else can you find a USM motor, tiltable LCD, image stabilizer, video with zoom ability, stereo audio output, 500 shots with 4 AA batteries within a well-designed PowerShot S2 IS!?
Great cam, bought it based on reviews

Bought the camera the second day it was introduced in Singapore. Have been playing with it since. Battery life is wonderful. Bought 2 sets of Sanyo 2500 NiMH AA batteries with the refresh charger to go with it but one set would last almost 3 weeks before I have to change the batteries. The Movie mode is wonderful to use as I can take a movie while taking normal pictures or while in movie mode I can snap a shot without switching modes, too. I like the zoom feature while you make a movie, too. The My Color mode is a fun tool to use, too. Looking at your subject's reaction when you change the color of the clothes and they go "WOW". Last but not least, the Image Stabilization mode is great, in landscape mode, but not portrait as the IS ... Read more
Excellent choice before moving on to DSLR

Opinion:
As you can see the bad is the cap, space between buttons and manual flash. It simplys means resolution, sharpness, speed, features and functions are superb. Excellent 0cm macro, very usable 2-speed zoom, excellent image stabilization (tip: use shoot only mode), excellent EVF. With a 12x, 432mm equivalent (48x with digital) and manual mode, it is almost a DSLR. Perfect camera to play with before moving onto DSLR.
Fab!
