Purely Nikon
Jan 5, 2007Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Good Image, Easy to Use, Built Quality, Size, SD Card
Cons: Kit Lens
Opinion:
This is a good all rounder SLR camera, which is comparable to a D70S. Its suit my needs fully as I am an amature photographer.
value-for-money DSLR
Jul 10, 2006Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: great images
Cons: missing features as compared to prosumer digicam
Opinion:
after using prosumer digicam for many yrs (my last was KM Dimage-Z5), I upgrated to DSLR for the speed and pic quality. You will read many plus pts when you search D50 reviews online, so I won't repeat them here, I just want to tell you the "cultural shock" I experienced as a DSLR beginner:
1. take photo only via viewfinder, not the LCD screen - yeah, i look like a pro with that, but viewfinder is not reflecting 100% of the image I catch, I have to crop my image later especially taking short distance shot;
2. can't silence the shuttle shound - I can't take photo in museum, churches and temples secretly, most of them ban photo-taking;
3. no date imprint - not major problem, but would be good if I have the option to turn on and off, that's useful for holiday shot;
4. Nikon len cap has no string attached - easy to misplace it.

May 13, 2006Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Easy to use. Good picture quality and fast startup time.
Cons: Camera at 6MP only.
Opinion:
As usual, Nikon with the reliable camera and system. But should consider to upgrade it to 8MP as this will be the entry level trend for Prosumer dSLR camera for the coming year.
Best dSLR for Family Snaps
Feb 12, 2006Rating: 10 out of 10 (Perfect)
Pros: Shutter speed, build quality, price, startup speed, battery,Flash is excellent
Cons: none
Opinion:
I have 3 kids under 6 years, and previously owned a Canon IXUS and know very little about the technical aspects of photography. I hated the slow shutter speed on the IXUS and wanted a camera that felt like a pro camera but was as easy as a point and shoot. I compared to the D70, but the pics where actually better on the D50.
If you are no expert, want quality, need a fast shutter speed/starup then I promise you will not be dissapointed. Truly awesome.
A very good camera and with an affordable price
Dec 7, 2005Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Good result and color
Cons: Autofocus a little bit slow
Opinion:
First I want to buy D70 but I still remember the shopkeeper told me that there is a new camera and he said it's cheaper than D70 but better performance... and he is right...
