Very good

The good: Useful 27mm wide-angle zoom; excellent image stabilization; full selection of manual and automatic exposure controls; 720p-quality movie capture with operational zoom; relatively fast performance.

The bad: Prone to soft, noisy photos at telephoto settings; no hotshoe.

The bottom line: Other cameras may deliver higher resolutions and longer optical zoom range, but the Panasonic FZ28 proves the "more is better" presumption isn't always valid.

Fantastic camera, worth every dollar

Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Sharp Leica lens, Intelligent iA exposure & many manual settings for fine adjustment
Cons: Nothing much, except for its bulkiness but then it has to be for an 18x zoom camera
Opinion:
With wide & telephoto all squeezed into one, this is the camera to have for the next 1-2 years, until the optical zoom catches up & goes beyond 20x. Look no further if you are going for a Prosumer camera. Quality is assured.

Good Quality Pics

Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: iA function works well, easy to use, bracketing function for HDR, loads of options, fast superzoom, Leica lens, RAW format
Cons: Not many but if I were to nitpick; 3-inch lens would be better
Opinion:
I was looking for a camera with really good picture quality as well as lots of manual options. So a compact point-n-shoot was out of the question but neither was i ready to invest in a large and bulky dSLR - I felt i just wasn't hardcore enough to be lugging around all that equipment.

The FZ28 suited my needs extremely well. Though it is big and slightly bulky, it is light and comfortable to hold so isn't much of a bother to carry around.

Picture quality is very good and it didn't take me long to learn how to use the manual functions. I tried making HDR photos with shots taken from this camera and it came out pretty good - but still not quite up there with dSLR, but that's ok. If you can't afford or you're not ready for a dSLR, I believe this camera to be the next best thing.

Its a fantastic camera. I have been using Canon Poswershot S3 and recently switched to the FZ28. the pictures quality are much better and the LCD screen is so so nice. Love this camera.
