CNET Asia Review

By Philip Ryan, CNET.com

Very good

7.7

out of 10

View score

The good: Sensor-shift image stabilization; wireless flash control; Sensitivity-priority mode; Dust- and water-resistant.

The bad: Inaccurate, though still pleasing colors; tends to underexpose images; no Live View mode.

The bottom line: Pentax's K200D entry-level SLR gives a lot of bang for the buck and has better performance than last year's model. Despite low noise and pleasingly detailed images, technically inaccurate colors keep it from capturing the gold medal for image quality.

Easy to use; lots of tweaks available

Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Nice big LCD; very simple operation;image stabilixation is great;relatively cheap
Cons: Autoflash activates too much; images can be under exposed;colour seems OK to me
Opinion:
I am no photographic expert but this camera is quite good for the amateur who wants photos better than your compacts. I really wanted a good zoom lense to get those close up shots that I cold never do with the smaller cameras I have and with the 18mm-250mm lense the K200D does the job.
