The bad: Frustrating zoom rocker switch; cluttered controls; proprietary Memory Stick format.
The bottom line: Plain Jane styling and cluttered controls belie a wonderfully intuitive graphical user interface and some clever features. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W170 is a surprisingly adaptable camera that can be tweaked to take decent pictures in various environments.

Somthing wrong with this model

Pros: Great Display, good battery life
Cons: Pictures are grainy. Colours also differs then actual.
Opinion:
I've Purchased it after using my friend's w150(5MP Cybershot). But i was dissappointed by picture sharpness of W170. Picture is grainey and less sharp then my Kodak 5MP old camara. I've visited the service centre but there is no any technical support.
Can anybody suggest any solution.
It is not what I expected from a sony

Pros: Easy to handle, nice look, good functions for a point & shoot
Cons: Extremely grainy pictures, didn't find IS working well, ghostly images in lesser light, s/w intervention even in broad daylight
Opinion:
I have seen other cybershots and was quite impressed. I went to the booth to check it out. Immediately upon zooming I could see the grainy pictures. I asked the guy and he confirmed that the camera does "digital zoom" and hence it would not be like that when you download. But after I download the pics, I was right about grainy quality pictures. The features etc., are ok. I felt the camera is not capable of capturing colour properly. It can be seen if camera is used in colour and tinted mode. I don't think lot of features and 10 MP name should deliver such an output.

Pros: good response time, fast start up
Cons: battery life short but with extra battery can do
Opinion:
good night shots of scenery and ppl. fast response when shutter is pressed so you don't miss a shot especially of kids playing. with 4GB memory card can take about 1000 photos at 10 megapixels resolution. small compact design great for carrying in your pocket to take anywhere.
