CNET Asia Review
8.1
out of 10View score
The bad: Relatively low resolution for the price; smallish LCD, some clunky design aspects.
The bottom line: Despite some interface quirks and a slightly awkward design, the Olympus E-3 fares quite well against its midrange dSLR competition.

Great Camera
Dec 31, 2008Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: excellent durability body, fast auto focus, nice grip material, noise better than other oly DSLR, acurate colour
Cons: Small LCD than competitor, expensive high grade lens & accessorys
Opinion:
One year ago I used Olympus E500 with 2 kit lens, in my opinion I want more than I have, but oly not release DSLR Pro for long time after E1, in 2008 I buy canon 40d with 2 L lens, but I not satified using this equipment (just for me), before christmas 2008 I am sold out my other's oly equipment and buy E3 - my feel & passion about photography up again - you can know what different after using/try its.
Many reviews talk about noise in high iso, I think this is relevant, for me like film grain and not big problem
For other reference please visit www.fourthirdsphoto.com/blog/?p=119 - (this is article compare 40D with E3) but for me this article small less than perfect why ? in 40d use 28-135 IS lens, why not using 17-40L or 28-70L or 24-105L - maybe 28-135 is kit lens 40D and 12-60 SWD is kit for E3 ... A great professional quality camera with even better glass options.
Apr 7, 2008Rating: 10 out of 10 (Perfect)
Pros: Colour fidelity, resolution, and near waterproof body.
Cons: No mode dial but I got use to it's method.
Opinion:
I love the feel and weight and great overall balance it has.
I even have usable 3200 ISO shots.
Perfect, bright, fast glass.
Fantastic form and function balance in design
Apr 6, 2008Rating: 10 out of 10 (Perfect)
Pros: Robust features, colour fidelity, jpeg out of camera better than NIKON D300
Cons: Eyecup slides off to easily.
Opinion:
A great camera to to into the studio or out in nature's worst conditions. I shot with it on one of Canada's coldest night, minus 30c. Snow, rain even frost on this beauty is no problem.
I tried the 5D, found the focus to be slower and the build quality lacking. Tried the D300 and D200 and was not impressed with the colour and dynamic range compared to the E-3.
Olympus is giving E-3 cameras to many camera stores to loan out for 3 days free trial. So go ahead try and compare for yourself.
