CNET Asia Review
Good
The good: 10x optical zoom; optical image stabilization; 1,280 x 720, 30fps HD video capture; very close-focusing SuperMacro mode. 6
out of 10View score
The bad: Extremely awkward design; so-so still image quality; sluggish performance; noisy at higher ISOs.
The bottom line: The TX-1's unique design is sure to turn heads, but it's also quite awkward to use, and its still image quality isn't up to Canon's usual standards.

I love it!
Jan 8, 2008Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Great zoom, image stabilizer, turnable LCD great design, powerful flash, convenient button locations, fairly easy to use
Cons: Heavy, no case provided, few manual controls,
Opinion:
I love it! I've brought it out many times, and it never ceases to turn heads. Ultra-small for a video camera, makes great videos, and can take photos while filming. Photo quality is great when compared to Casio, Sony, Nikon digicams I've had in the past.
Canon's 1st hybrid (Nice try, lots of room for improvement!)

Pros: Solid build. Supports HD Video (not full HD), and 16:9 picture format
Cons: Grainy video, small LCD, heavy
Opinion:
If you are looking for a hybrid camera and video quality and filesize is important to you, forget this, go for the Casio EX-V7. The video taken by this camera turns out rather grainy, even in fairly bright lit room. An 8gb SDHC can only take 30mins of video at HQ Wide Mode. Compare this to Casio EX-V7, which gives much better video quality, and the 8gb SDHC can take about 120mins of video at HQ Wide mode (cos of the H.264 compression). Both this Canon and Casio EX-V7 allows optical zooming during video recording, a feature not found in most cameras with video function.
The LCD screen is a disappointment, it's too small for making any fair judgement, either taking photos or video, not to mention the unit is quite heavy at 220g!!
No case comes with this camera, imagine that. You have to purchase it separately. The case was not available at the time of my ... Read more
