The bad: Slower top shutter and flash-sync speed compared with D70s; bundled software does only basic RAW conversion; slight barrel distortion at the wide end of kit lens.
The bottom line: The Nikon D80 hits the sweet spot between the entry-level and midrange dSLR market and will appeal to photographers looking for an all-rounder with a range of useful features.

Perfect camera even for those just beginning their photography journey...
Mar 26, 2008Rating: 10 out of 10 (Perfect)
Pros: Excellent build, Easy to use, Ergnomic design, Top screen LCD, Large LCD rearscreen, Excellent image quality
Cons: Can't think of any!
Opinion:
I think enough has been said about this camera. I've had this for slightly over a year now. This was my first dSLR and it's been a great beginner camera as well.
Why did I choose this over the Canon 400D at that point in time? Both are great cameras, but the D80 just fit much better in my hand. I could never get a good grip on the 400D to be honest.
That reasoning might seem simple to some of you, but both cameras are great in their own right, and I don't think it would really have mattered that much to my photographs if I had picked either one.
Very good entry level DSLR

Jul 8, 2007Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: great speed shots, good low light shooting, great stock lens
Cons: poor af for manual shooting
Opinion:
over-all it's a great camera but it still has some weaknesses like in different situations where the Canon EOS would have sharper image quality.
