The bad: Image flaws such as blooming, fringing, and unusually frequent image noise.
The bottom line: The Panasonic DMC-FZ7 is a solid megazoom alternative for beginners and enthusiasts alike.

Fab value for money
Apr 24, 2008Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: VERY high photo success rate
Cons: Grainy viewfinder (not screen), no hot shoe for external flash
Opinion:
Use auto or adjust with multitude of features. Image stabilization is superb. Color rendering is excellent. Evening shot hand-held resting on windowsill at 1/13 sec superb on top 19" lcd monitor.
Avoid highest ISO setting unless no other way to get shot!
Unless you want to print highly cropped shots at above A3 resolution, why spend more on higher mega pixel cameras!!!!
You can get excellent 1/4 shot crop printed at A4 from this resolution.
Excellent battery life from Lithium battery supplied.
The 12x optical zoom is absolutely stunning.
Very Highly Recommended!!!!!!!
Brilliant!!! Excellent camera even in poor light!!!

Pros: Fab image stabilsation even at long telephoto, slow speeds
Cons: Viewfinder (not screen) a little pixilated
Opinion:
Have reviewers tried the 'fine' picture setting? I have tried evening telephoto shots at slow shutter speeds and I can't discern any noise even in shadow areas on the standard ordinary picture quality camera setting viewed on a quality 19" LCD monitor. This is by far the most best and most successful camera I've owned, nearly always focuses correctly and gets exposure right practically everytime.
Autobalance in photo processsing software usually makes no adjustment, and if anything, a slight (standard) increase in colour saturation gets colours absolutely spot on.
Sharpening pictures isn't necessary.
I can understand reviewers thinking pictures just slightly flat colourwise, but this is simple to adjust either in camera or when viewing on computer.
I can't rate the image stabilisation too highly. I've taken many handheld shots that wouldn't otherwise have been possible.
The only reason I've given it 9 is the viewfinder resolution, but Panasonic have put it right in the Lumix ... Read more
Glad I bought this

Pros: 12xzoom at 6M, 15xzoom at 3M, lightweight
Cons: lacks inherent wide angle
Opinion:
I went to PC show to buy a wide angle digital and was looking at the FX01 which was being offered at $699, I then saw the FZ7 being offered at $799 with 12 x zoom. The clincher for me was when they offered me a free wide lens converter and they upped the free 1 Gig SD card to a faster 2 Gig card. Just played with it and wow - what a deal. Will shot some shots tomorrow and update. Wanted to rush this out for interested parties to go and pick up this deal as well if a real bargain is what you are looking for.
