The good: Compact and attractive design; well built; easy to use.

The bad: Photos suffer from some lens artifacts; slow; little to no manual exposure control.

The bottom line: The Pentax Optio S6 is a well-built, compact, and attractive camera that is a pleasure to use for snapshots but won't dazzle with its photo quality.

Dubious image quality in a very compact and usable camera

Rating: 6 out of 10 (Good)

Opinion:
I really like the appearance and usability of this camera. I did not have to read the user manual to get going.
However, I am disappointed by the image quality. There appears to be considerable noise, and resolution/clarity leaves something to be desired. It does not produce images of the quality of my old Optio 430. Having said that, the reason I bought this camera was for its size - I can stick it in my pocket and take it anywhere. If I want better image quality I will use my digital SLR (istDS), and if I want ultimate image quality I will use film!
