Canon PowerShot A610
CNET Asia Review
Very good
The good: Manual exposure controls; excellent feature set for its class; great image quality; easy to use, with a convenient function button for quick setting changes; compatible with lens converters and other accessories. 7.4
out of 10View score
The bad: Flimsy SD/MMC-slot and port covers; slightly stiff function button; not quite as fast as some competitors.
The bottom line: The Canon PowerShot A610 puts a great feature set in an affordable camera that produces above-average image quality, making it an excellent option for a wide variety of photographers.

Opinion:
Yea, it might not be the ultracompact camera people want these days, but it has enough features and performance to keep both casual and serious users happy. Great zoom lens: 4x, but more importantly a good F4.1 aperture at max zoom 140mm!
Larger CCD: Compared to other 5MP cameras, this one has a 1/1.8 CCD. Larger CCD helps with better low-light photography. Speed: Thanks to DIGIC II, this is ultra-fast. Boot-up, shot-to-shot, etc.
Movie: 30fps 640 x 480 video, video length limited to storage card capacity.
Manual modes: There are all manual options available, full manual, shutter/aperture priority, etc.
Battery: Good battery life, takes 4x AA.
Somewhat issues:
1. Size is not ultracompact.
2. Flash power limited in compact cameras, not just an issue of A610.
3. Red-eye. Again, this is a problem with all compact cameras, not just A610.
4. Video compression is not great. Fills up SD card quickly. They should go to MPEG-4.
5. Could ... Read more
