Very good

7.7

View score

The good: Excellent image quality; an impressively flexible LCD screen that's viewable from many angles; a sharp Zeiss lens; effective white-balancing features; a wide range of ISO sensitivity; quick performance.

The bad: With most heavy components on the left side, the chunky body is somewhat off-balance; can't shoot RAW in burst mode; the in-camera review function magnifies to only 5x.

The bottom line: If you don't anticipate a need for multiple lenses--which many users won't, given the crisp 24mm-to-120mm-equivalent lens with a maximum aperture of F2.8--the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-R1 makes a worthy competitor to the dSLRs in its price range. It's a handy, versatile camera with excellent image quality.

A BIG NO-NO.

Rating: 5 out of 10 (Average)
Pros: looks like a real DSLR.
Cons: ALL. chunky buttons everywhere. weird lcd form. photo quality is not good at all
Opinion:
well. i have used this cam from a friend, and as i have seen the photos.. its like i have a 5mp digital cam.. seriously. it has a low flash. its heavy and its overloaded with chunky buttons everywhere. the lcd is not friendly at all.. its weird cause its place on top. which is kind of a new weird stuff for everyone.

over all rating: its better to have a compact or ultracompact digital cam than to have this heavy chunk at hand.

GREAT CHOICE MOSTLY FOR BEGGINERS

Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: GOOD SPECS
Cons: LOW MAGNIFICATION
Opinion:
IF ONLY SONY MANAGES TO CONVERT ITS ZOOM CAPABILITIES EVEN UP TO THE EXTENT OF 12X THEN I WOULD BET THAT IT WOULD EVEN SELL MORE THAN OF CANON....IT WOULD BE AN ULTIMATE ALL IN ONE PRACTICAL AND CONVINIENT PACKAGE WORTH TO HAVE DIGITAL CAMERA! sAyAnG TALGA OK NA sANA!

This is the best prosumer camera I've ever seen

Rating: 10 out of 10 (Perfect)
Pros: High megapixel (10.3), good CMOS sensor, excellent Carl-Zeiss Vario Sonnar T* lens, & a lot more...
Cons: Short zooming distance (5x optical)
Opinion:
This is the best prosumer camera I've ever seen. It's even better than some SLR camera. With soo many good features (high megapixel, good CMOS sensor, excellent Carl-Zeiss Vario Sonnar T* lens, & a lot more...), it's out of my expectations!! Well done, Sony!!
