Very good

The good: Better-looking design compared with the FZ20; free-angle LCD allows for various shooting angles; 12x optically stabilized, manual zoom lens; supports RAW and TIFF file format shooting; high-speed autofocus metering modes; above-average performance.

The bad: Lack of dedicated buttons; control wheels hard to reach at times; mediocre accompanying software for RAW file conversion; noisy images especially under low-light conditions.

The bottom line: If you own the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20, it's probably time for an upgrade to a much better-looking model, but don't expect too much on the image quality.

excellent lens, great value

Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: 32mm - 420mm lens, intuitive menu interface, good grip
Cons: noisy pictures at high shutter speed, mediocre software package for a high-end prosumer
Opinion:
the FZ30 is a better buy over a basic DSLR if you do not intend to invest in lenses. the leica lens will meet almost all your needs with its super zoom capability and good mechanical zoom rings. its a well balanced camera and has a good grip. great value for money.

Great all rounder super-zoom digital camera

Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Image stabilisation, creative zoom up to 19.1X at 3MP, full manual controls
Cons: Noise reduction algorithm (especially at ISO 400) not fantastic though usable for small print sizes
Opinion:
A super-zoom camera has always been my dream and among all those available in the market, the 8MP Panasonic DMC-FZ30 here gives the best balance in price, quality and features. This is a fantastic all round digital camera and perhaps the best choice next to the much more expensive DSLRs...

Affordable prosumer cam with excellent features

Rating: 10 out of 10 (Perfect)
Pros: Excellent stabilizer, extended optical zoom, clear photos, manual zoom+focus, user-friendly
Cons: Noise reduction moderate
Opinion:
So far the best camera i have used, provides excellent shots. Extended optical zoom of 19x really wonderful. Gives more manual feel with zoom and focus rings with precise controls. Though cannot be compared to those high-end dSLRs, this cam sure provides high quality and features that do not cost that much, too.
