PowerShot G10 versus Lumix DMC-LX3

By Leonard Goh

When Panasonic announced the Lumix DMC-LX3, the company pitted it against Canon's PowerShot G9. However, we felt it was not exactly fair comparison because the latter had been on the market for quite some time. It was only when Canon showcased the PowerShot G10 that the competition really heated up. Arguably, these two shooters are probably the most closely-watched prosumer compacts by shutterbugs right now. In terms of specifications, it may seem that the Canon has the upper hand. But the LX3 has certain charms that are winning fair share of followers.

Before we run a full review on the G10, here are some pictures and a comparison scorecard of these two cameras.

Canon touts the G10 as a complement to dSLRs with its extensive feature set. For the first time in a G-series shooter, a 28mm wide-angle lens is incorporated. However, the LX3 has even wider optics at 24mm.
