Canon announces three new shootersThe Digital IXUS 970 IS leads the pack with a 5x optical zoom lens--the longest zoom seen in its lineup. The optical image stabilizer is improved from previous models and Canon claims this will allow photographers to shoot at a much lower shutter speed. The Face Detection feature can recognize up to 35 faces, from which you can select one and the camera will optimize the exposure based on that face. The IXUS 970 is slated to replace the popular IXUS 950 IS.
These three 10-megapixel compacts also sport the Motion Detection technology, which will adjust the ISO accordingly to achieve sharp-looking pictures even for fast moving-objects, Canon said. The three shooters are expected to reach Asia Pacific by May. Prices are unavailable now, but we will update once we have the information. So keep a lookout on this page. |

I wonder how well the motion detection technology will work. I know well that compact shooters even by an acknowledgeable brand like Canon, the high ISO settings just plain sucks! So if the motion detection pushes the ISO up, I wonder whether the photos will become too noisy...
