Features
The Digimax i6 is a simple point-and-shoot camera, period. What sets it apart are its MP3 and MPEG-4 playback features. You don't need to be a Rhodes Scholar to get these multimedia functions up and running. In fact, the process is as simple as creating the required folders ("MP3" for music and "PMP" for videos) on your Secure Digital card or on the internal memory (45MB) of the camera and copy the files over.

You can have a maximum of 200 files in a folder and up to 100 sub-directories under the parent folder. Of course, for something this basic you cannot ask for much. The i6 recognizes a limited number of multimedia formats (MP3, XviD MPEG-4 and MPEG-1 Layer2), and if a file cannot be played on the camera, you can convert it using the Digimax converter software that's bundled with your purchase. However, you'll have to check if the multimedia file plays correctly on Windows Media Player and, in some cases, you will need to install additional codecs in order to support certain formats. The Korean chaebol makes it clear that not all multimedia files can be converted.

There are several customizable options in the music playback mode. You can turn on Resume to continue where you left a song previously; choose to play all the tracks on your list, repeat one, repeat all or random repeat them; select from two built-in skins and define another two of your own; and watch your pictures in a slideshow fashion while listening to music. Once you have decided how you want to listen to them, the Advanced Shake Reduction (ASR) doubles as a Hold button to prevent accidental changes to the settings. For moments when you need to take a fast snapshot and the camera is full to the gills with MP3 files, there's also a thoughtful feature for you to wipe out your music collection to clear some needed space.

Unlike true optical image stabilization, the Advanced Shake Reduction works by increasing the sensitivity level to a maximum of ISO 400 while using a faster shutter speed to counter hand shake.

There're a couple of other interesting features on the i6 (some of which were available on previous Digimaxes as well) and these come in the form of color effects, preset focus highlights, composite shooting and nine photo frames. A total of 10 scene modes for various environments are also at hand to assist in shooting.
