User Review for Canon EOS 1000D
DSLR with very good imaging performance!
Apr 11, 2009Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Image quality is almost exactly same as the more expensive 450D,
Cons: Slower 1.5fps shoot in RAW format
Opinion:
I actually wanted to buy the EOS 450D but ended up choosing 1000D. Mainly because after comparing the sample photos of both cameras from: http://www.imaging-resource.com/IMCOMP/COMPS01.HTM , found out that both DSLRs produces almost same image quality. Just that EOS 450D's image when zoom at 1000% is a bit larger than EOS 1000D, however, this doesn't look like EOS 450D is clearer.
The EOS 1000D takes photos with relatively less noise even at ISO 1600. The 18-55mm lens that came with the camera is relatively wide angle, and the zoom distance is quite satisfactory.
In fact, both EOS 450D and 1000D comes with the same lens, so no doubts that 2 photos are like a copy.
However, when we compare 450D and 1000D, this camera lacks Spot-metering, a 2.5inch smaller LCD, slightly slower raw image capturing.
If you're a starter to DSLR, I strongly recommend you choose this camera rather than EOS 450D as EOS 450D is slightly overpriced; the extra functions is not worth that few hundreds of dollars.
EOS 1000D is a very good camera. My advice is: buy this lower priced camera so that you have more money to buy other expensive accessories like filters, lens and tripod!
