User Review for Pentax Optio A40
great features & big improvements from Pentax
Jan 2, 2009Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: small profile, good ergonomics, 3 anti shake modes, fast release, 12 megap, good price
Cons: pf mode is deep pan focus only
Opinion:
Pentax has been working hard to be a major in the compact P&S range, and for the money, 12 megapixels and a fairly good selection of usable features the Optioo A40 (A36 on Taiwan) is actually a great primary Point and Shoot for everyday use photo fans and a good backup for more serious hobbyists. The shutter release is one of the faster on the market, and you can set it to one step, but this mode is for deep focus or pan focus only. The Shake Reduction now comes in three modes and in a nutshell its solid, delivers sharp daylight and indoor images and rich colors without over-saturation. The key here is if you like Pentax to begin with, you will be delighted by the A40 as well.
