User Review for Canon EOS 1000D
Not bad, but not terrific...
Aug 16, 2008Rating: 6 out of 10 (Good)
Pros: Canon's phenomenal image quality is sustained in this model...
Cons: More "marketing" than new tech or features...
Opinion:
I tried this model out, before deciding to purchase an older Canon model. Bottomline to me is - this is a classic response to increasing competition in the entry-level DSLR market, more than a serious contender for the enthusiasts market. It is Canon's response to the increasing success of Sony, Oly, Nikon in capturing the money of customers moving from their prosumers to their first DSLR. As such, its performance is at par with the entry-level offerings of major competitors. But it is on top of the field. Image quality is, however, SUPERB, which is a Canon stronghold for a very long time now. Even at ISO1600, you get clean, noiseless shots, which you can't do with the entry-level Sony DSLR. And I tell you, even if you're not a serious photographer, you will appreciate ISO1600 when taking photos where there is not enough light, such as parties, churches with lights off, museums (where flashes sometimes are not allowed).
