How to improve picture's quality and more bold color?

I bought an Panasonic DMC FX 36.right now, I have some problem:
+ I take pictures. Then I zoom the pictures.Oh! I'm sad, because my face is dim. I don't know how setting to improve it.
+ colour of the pictures, I want it is more bold.
would can You share me some your experience to resolve my problem?
